Agnès Hirsch is a doctoral student in sociology at the Institut national d'études démographiques (INED), in the "History and Populations" unit, and at the Institut de recherche interdisciplinaire en sciences sociales (IRISSO). She works on the construction of the measurement of labour in France between 1880 and 1930 and on its relation to the implementation of the regulation of different "occupational risks" (accidents at work, illness, old age). She is particularly interested in the role and positioning of trade unions and employers in relation to these issues.
