The “Public Policies and Opinions” (PPO) Master Degree combines the knowledge and the methods of both political science and sociology, which enables the training of specialists in public policies monitoring and evaluation, and in public opinion’s understanding.
Academics and professional lecturers coming either from public administrations or private sector provide advanced courses on survey methodology (i.e. quantitative and qualitative), on political and sociological analysis on institutions, on opinion and public policies, and on sector-specific policies at local, national and European levels. This training aims at helping students to develop significant skills and expertise in conceiving, treating, and interpreting statistical survey data in social sciences. Thus, their capacity to analyze and assess public policies, especially in the fields of employment, social policies, urban and housing policies, and in cultural policies, can be sharpened. In terms of job prospects, the holders of the PPO Master Degree can work as surveys and studies creators and officers -in either public or private organizations-, research engineers, sociologists specialized in quantitative methods, official representatives, project managers, and assessors. The acquired skills can be performed either in public/para-public or in private sector.
